Penguin Bay is a 156 square meter natural area with boulders, a rocky beach and cold water where penguins have plenty of room to romp.
You can learn more about the penguins several times a day at our exciting Penguin Bay Talks. Here, you’ll gain unique insight into how one of the world’s most unusual birds lives in places where most other species have to give up. Did you know, for instance, that gentoo penguins are the fastest penguins in the water, and that they can swim up to 36 kph?
At LEGOLAND Billund, we are part of a global breeding programme where zoos from around the world exchange animals with one another to ensure healthy, fit animals in the zoos of the future.
Most of the 15 young that were born in Penguin Bay since 2013 have therefore already left the nest and now reside in Bangkok, Oberhausen and Munich, among other places.
During the same period, we have received penguins from countries such as Australia and Switzerland, and today we have 23 penguins that are about to build their nests and hopefully breed new young for us by May 2016.
The time for Penguin Bay Talks will be posted at Penguin Bay and at show poster in the park. Note: subject to changes and cancellations.
